About Heat Pumps

Heat Pump provides reliable, ultra high efficiency heating and cooling for long-lasting comfort and energy savings.

How Does a Heat Pump Work?

It has the ability to heat the home on cold days using electric heat. The heat pump moves heat from outdoors into the home. This is more cost effective than other electric heating methods, such as electric furnaces or space heaters, which must create the heat. The most common set-up for a heat pump is with an indoor air handler. The air handler includes a coil and blower in one cabinet.

What Should I Know about HSPF?

The Department of Energy requires all heating equipment manufacturers to evaluate and rate the efficiency of their equipment on a seasonal basis. This rating is known as HSPF or, Heating Seasonal Performance Factor. The higher the HSPF, the greater the energy economy.

SEER RATING

SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) is the measure of efficiency by which the cooling process of air conditioners and heat pumps is rated. The higher the SEER number, the greater the efficiency—and therefore greater energy savings. Today, U.S. regulatory agencies require all new products to have a 13.0 SEER rating or better.

Are Some Heat Pumps Better than Others?

Naturally, energy efficiency is important. But when making your selection, remember low operating costs are little comfort if service and repair bills are high. Don’t be sold on energy efficiency alone. A high SEER/HSPF heat pump also can add value to your home which is important to today’s energy-conscious home buyers. Let Perfect Climate evaluate your needs and help you choose the most economical solutions for your home.
